Hello!

I cannot install GlobalSight on my laptop with Windows 8. The problem is that executing the file install.bat leads to a warning massage "Only alphanumeric characters ([A-Z],[a-z],[0-9]), hyphen (-), underscore (_) and period (.) are allowed in the installation path.". I tried to install earlier versions of GS, but no success. MySQL server and JAVA JDK installed without problems. Could you please help? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Andrey

Hi Andrey

Can you confirm the installation path you have set for GlobalSight?

GlobalSight must not be installed to a path containing spaces e.g. C:\Program Files\

Typically it is installed to the root directory e.g. C:\GlobalSight\

In that main directory:

docs
filestorage
java
mysql *
server

* The MySQL install as well data files.

Dear Karol,

Thanks a lot, it helped! Now there is a problem with staring it. It did not appear in the Start Menu, nor in the Service Window. And I cannot start it in the Console Mode, as I dont know the server directory in /jboss/startJboss.cmd. Can you help again? Thanks in advance.

When installing Globalsight on Windows system as standard user, i.e., non-administrator user, make sure to run Install.bat as Administrator.

And before running the install script, you'd better add the following line:
cd %~dp0
before the line starting with "java -classpath".

Only administrator user can add GlobalSight to Windows service and Start menu.

To start GlobalSight manually, you should run standalone.bat in GlobalSight\jboss\server\bin folder.
