Hi all!

Recently our mail Server was secured and now only accepts authentication with TLS (Port 587) or SSL (Port 465).

I tried to update the Setting in GS by running the install.bat again and changing the SMTP Settings but neither Port 465 with SSL or Port 587 (TLS) seem to have any effect and/or make notifications work again.
Without notifications GS is pretty useless.
Any idea/tip/Support where this Setting can be changed and how? Is there a Settings file (like for the db Connection) where this is stored?
Thanks for your help!

Issue has not been replicated on our side.

For this feature, the first place is "Email Settings" on installer UI. The installer will update your input values into "jboss\server\standalone\configuration\standalone.xml" file and "system_parameter" table in DB. See below settings in standalone.xml file: it has "host", "port", "username", "password", "protocol", "sslEnabled" info.

<subsystem xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:mail:1.2">
<mail-session name="default" jndi-name="java:jboss/mail/Default">
<smtp-server outbound-socket-binding-ref="mail-smtp" ssl="true">
<login name="someone@something.com" password="myprivatepassword"/>
</smtp-server>
</mail-session>
</subsystem>

<outbound-socket-binding name="mail-smtp">
<remote-destination host="smtp.something.com" port="465"/>
</outbound-socket-binding>

Please review the installer values vs standalone.xml to ensure settings are updated.

When sending mail, the "javax.mail.Session" object is initialized per these settings. The properties in session object is "{mail.debug=false, mail.smtp.port=465, mail.smtp.user=someone@something.com, mail.transport.protocol=smtp, mail.smtp.debug=false, mail.smtp.host=smtp.something.com, mail.smtp.auth=true, mail.smtp.ssl.enable=true}". Here it has no password, password is from DB. So no matter your input, mailsender picks them up. On test server, it sends mail whether ssl is enabled or not.

Issue may be related with mail server itself or network.
