The new release externalizes and simplifies functionality via offline tools and provides direct access to the Terminology Database via web services - all to increase flexibility and productivity.

Welocalize continues to optimize the performance of GlobalSight with its latest 7.1.3 release. New features include greater product extensibility through web services and productivity enhancers that enable users to conduct day-to-day tasks offline, outside of the application. 

GlobalSight 7.1.3―available in the download area or on sourceforge.net― has expanded the web service API functionality to include access to the Translation Memory (TM) and now the Terminology Database (TD) from an external application.  GlobalSight users are able to query, update and add entries to both the TM and TD outside of the GlobalSight software by connecting to and exchanging data with third-party applications. 

Similarly, the new release provides key features to streamline the offline translation process. When working offline, translators and reviewers have the ability to download all files available for translation with one click and the option to receive one consolidated TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) file for multiple source files.   Welocalize has published a complete Translator GlobalSight Training guide that addresses these and all steps specific to translators and reviewers using GlobalSight. 

Other enhancements include Translation Memory (TM) precedence that grants control over the primary order of TM's for content reuse and extended Terminology Database (TD) search that provides more flexible and granular search capability on glossary entries.

NEW FEATURES

• TM Precedence - Adds function in TM Profile to allow arranging of TM order. Presents TM matches to translator in that order.

• Download All Offline Files - When translating or reviewing offline, new button allows for download of All Files from All Tasks with status “In Progress”  with one click.

• Consolidate TM’s for offline work - When translating or reviewing offline, allows user the option of consolidating TMX files into one when working a job with multiple source files.

• TermBase API’s - Allows access to Terminology Management through Web Service API’s. Perform tasks such as add, edit or delete of terminology entries from an external application.

• New TermBase Search - Provides more flexible and granular search capability on terminology entries.

• SID Support - provides support for String ID fields in GlobalSight TM’s.

• XML Rules Testing - Allow ability to test an XML file when building  XML Rules (similar to testing SRX).

ENHANCEMENTS/ BUG FIXES

• Display/Show TM names when displaying TM matches in Corpus Browser and Segment Editor

• Enhancement to allow pm/admin user to manually change attached file to either "Unrestricted" or "Restricted"

• WebService API: Add TM name information in searchEntries() XML response

• Desktop Icon automatic downloading does not work when its server is "localhost"
